Harald converted to Christianity and famously proclaimed:
“Harald who made the Danes Christian.”
This declaration is carved into the legendary Jelling Stone, one of the most important monuments of the Viking Age.

During his reign, massive ring fortresses such as Trelleborg were built perfectly symmetrical, highly strategic, and far ahead of their time.
Betrayed by his own blood
Harald was overthrown by his son, Sweyn Forkbeard. Wounded in battle, Harald died in exile - a tragic end for the king who united a nation.
