King Harald the Bluetooth
HARALD BLUETOOTH ~ THE KING WHO UNITED A NATION AND CHANGED HISTORY
Full name: Harald Gormsson
Reigned: c. 958–986 AD
Titles: King of Denmark and Norway
Father: Gorm the Old
Why the name “Bluetooth”?
According to the sagas, Harald earned his nickname either because: - he had a darkened or damaged tooth
or
-the name symbolized his power to “bind and unite people together.”
A unifier, not just a conqueror
Harald brought together the divided Danish tribes into a single kingdom at a time when Viking lands were ruled by force and blood feuds.
The king who Christianized Denmark
Harald converted to Christianity and famously proclaimed:
“Harald who made the Danes Christian.”
This declaration is carved into the legendary Jelling Stone, one of the most important monuments of the Viking Age.
Master builder of Viking fortresses
During his reign, massive ring fortresses such as Trelleborg were built perfectly symmetrical, highly strategic, and far ahead of their time.
Betrayed by his own blood
Harald was overthrown by his son, Sweyn Forkbeard. Wounded in battle, Harald died in exile - a tragic end for the king who united a nation.
A legacy that shaped Europe
– Sweyn Forkbeard conquered England
– His grandson Cnut the Great ruled Denmark, Norway, and England
- Harald Bluetooth laid the foundation for Scandinavian imperial power
Did you know?
Without Harald Bluetooth, there might be: - no unified Denmark
- no Viking empire
Harald Bluetooth - the king who united tribes, changed faith, and left his mark on stone, blood, and code.
Liquid bravery approved by Odin
In the North, every drink has its own soul.
Some taste like courage,
some like trouble,
and some like that one bad idea that still becomes a great story. But modern rules say we must call them all “beer”.
Not mead, not warrior’s brew,
not “liquid bravery approved by Odin” —
just beer.
Fine. Beer it is.Still, every can carries its own legend,
its own flavour,
and the spirit of a Viking king who definitely
didn’t care about regulations. So raise your drink.
If the gods smile, have another.
If they don’t… definitely have another.Beer description
